In January 2006, five Christian Aid staff travelled to Tajikistan in Central Asia - a country where nearly two-thirds of the population has to survive on less than US$2.15 a day. Their blogs were hugely popular.
This autumn, Christian Aid's Director for Churches and Community travels to the region and will be blogging about his experiences and theological reflections during the journey. The blog then continues with entries from 15 Christian Aid gap year students.
The following blog entries do not represent Christian Aid policy. Contact the Christian Aid media team or see http://www.christianaid.org.uk for our public position.
We've been struck by power cuts and no connectivity. This post shows us preparing the blog by battery and candlelight. 3 or four stories to post later today. Meantime we've fixed the problems on the last two stories below which now include images. Worth another look.

Thanks to all for your efforts in bringing all your experiences to life for us here in London. The detail and emotion conveyed in your posts are amazing--makes me almost feel like i'm there, too. Have been really touched by what you've all seen and have shared with us...personal note to Frances...i agree with an earlier comment made by Claudia...if you do feel it is appropriate when you leave...please, please feel free to also donate the long underwear (top & bottoms) i lent you to help you stay warm. I am very happy to replace the 'long johns' if someone there would like them--esp. as i only use them for a few days each year! (they'd be put to much better use there--i can always turn up the heat!) stay safe and well! love, kimx
